Our planet-positive initiatives
Since our founding in 2014, the Baltic Club has remained steadfastly dedicated to the creation of stylish, high-quality products that are as green as they are chic. Our unwavering commitment to the planet has continually informed our approach and inspired our continuous quest for sustainable innovation.
Sustainable Products
While we acknowledge that we're not perfect, at the Baltic Club, we are constantly striving to make more environmentally conscious decisions with every product we design. Our sustainable collection includes durable and stylish bamboo kitchenware and travel cups, which utilize this fast-growing, renewable material. Additionally, our Swedish sponge cloths, composed of natural materials, are compostable, providing a greener solution for household cleaning. We also offer soy wax candles, a healthier, cleaner-burning alternative to traditional candles. Each product represents our commitment to merge quality, style, and sustainability.
Local Sourcing and Production
We hold a deep-seated belief in supporting local businesses, and thus, we collaborate closely with local printers and suppliers that share our commitment to sustainability. At the Baltic Club, we take immense pride in the fact that 90% of our products are currently made locally, and we are resolutely committed to incrementally increasing this percentage to the highest possible level over the coming years.
We predominantly utilize paper products from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) certified. This strategic choice not only aids us in limiting our ecological impact but also supports the FSC in their crucial work to safeguard forests and wildlife, uphold Indigenous rights, and ensure the welfare of communities and workers. Our paper is ordered from reputable, eco-conscious suppliers, including Rolland, a company based in St. Jerome, renowned for crafting paper with 100% recycled fibres. We also value our partnership with the Michigan-based French Paper, an entity that harnesses its own fully renewable hydroelectric generators for power. Thanks to these dedicated partners, we can proudly state that all our paper products contain a minimum of 30% recycled material, with the majority boasting a 100% recycled content.
Partnerships for a Greener Future
At the Baltic Club, we deeply value partnerships that align with our dedication to sustainable development. Notably, we collaborate with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to produce postcards, notebooks, and t-shirts that echo their mission. We are also privileged to support the Space for Life movement, an initiative encompassing the Biodôme, the Insectarium, the Botanical Garden, and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium. This partnership allows us to contribute to the protection and promotion of wildlife, flora, and scientific endeavors.
In line with our commitment to sustainability and community engagement, the Baltic Club is privileged to collaborate with respected organizations such as Mira and Fondation de l'Hôpital Ste-Justine. Mira, known for its invaluable work in providing service dogs to individuals in need, has been a cherished partner in our mission. Working in tandem with Mira, we've been able to develop and promote products that not only adhere to our environmental ethos, but also support this noble cause. Similarly, our partnership with Fondation de l'Hôpital Ste-Justine, in providing stationery and crafts products to children and families, allows us to contribute to the wellbeing of our community's youngest members. Our collaboration with these foundations serves as a reminder that sustainable practices and community support go hand in hand. Together, we aim to foster a healthier, greener future for all.
Our Renewed Commitment
As we journey forward, we reaffirm our pledge to environmental sustainability and our shared planet. We stand resolute in our commitment to a greener future and will continue to innovate and adapt our practices to this end.
