Bronwyn Gruet

Bronwyn is a freelance illustrator and art director. She has always had a passion for narrative and book illustration, and animals and nature are a never ending source of inspiration for her. She loves to weave little joys into her illustration work with anthropomorphic characters, cheerful colours, nostalgia, and a bit of silliness. Likewise, she also has a knack for character sculpture and dabble in animation, and is always making something with her hands.

She lives with her husband in Durham, North Carolina (United States), with their baby, their dog, and their two calico cats. After hours, you can find her doodling in her sketchbook, baking, and sharing her enthusiasm for The Muppets with anyone she meets.

IF YOU COULD BE AN ANIMAL, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

I have always had a fondness for rabbits. I’m not exactly sure why, there’s something about how absolutely ridiculous rabbit ears are that I’ve always found charming.

NAME ONE THING ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I would love to spend some time in Ireland. I’ve never been, and have family roots there.

IF YOU COULD HAVE A SUPERPOWER WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

I would love to be able to slow down time.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS, IF SO WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES?

Yes! I have three pets. I have two calico cats named EJ and Renzo, and a husky shepherd dog named Layla.

WHAT KIND OF SANDWICH WOULD YOU BE?

Peanut butter & jelly.

Favourite ART SUPPLY/TOOL?

I always keep a little selection of coloured pencils with me and my special pencil sharpener. Those are my favourite things to use for sketch booking.
